So there we were, fresh in Romania and in a town looking for somewhere to stay; after some speculation, pointing and stroking of chins by the locals it became evident that there was in fact nowhere… and it had been a long sweaty day and we were both in need of a shower and not in the mood to find somewhere to wild camp.
To the rescue come Anna and Gheorghe, a lovely local couple who by way of gesturing offered us a place to stay at their house for the night.
Not only that but they plied us with home-grown food, (they had a big vegetable patch, chickens, etc), homemade tomato juice and best of all, homemade apricot vodka. Suffice it to say we were full, drunk and happy.
No common language, but through a mix of Romania, German, English and Russian we managed to get a good insight into life for these people.
Thanks Anna and George for such a warm welcome to a country that continued this theme of hospitality!
